MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT

Take the first step by getting an assessment

Today, many suffering from anxiety and depression turn to alcohol and drugs for relief. Enterhealth is here to help. It starts with the right assessment. Enterhealth uses the most advanced medical, emotional, and psychological assessments to craft a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your mental and physical needs.

Our extensive experience healing addictions reveals that most people diagnosed with substance use disorder also suffer from a co-occurring mental health or behavioral disorder. This is known as a dual diagnosis. And often, addiction is the result of self-medicating these underlying mental health issues.

Understanding dual diagnosis

When there is a dual diagnosis like anxiety and alcohol abuse, it’s important to address both problems and get to the heart of the matter. Do you drink to cope? Are you constantly anxious and turning to relief with marijuana? Could a bipolar disorder lead you to abuse opioids? Only through a comprehensive assessment from an Enterhealth therapist will you truly know the right answer and be able to make the right decisions on how to treat your co-existing condition.

LEARN MORE ABOUT DUAL-DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT

Because they begin with the knowledge that addiction is a brain disease, they employ the latest medical advances to combat the damage done to the brain's neurotransmitters. This helps to restore serotonin levels and combat cravings, giving the brain a chance to heal so that recovery can move forward.

  • Sleep disorders: A variety of disorders that cause disruption to sleep patterns or habits and negatively affect health and well-being.
  • Suicidal/Homicidal thoughts: Hopelessness characterized by the desire to harm someone or inflict self-harm

Symptoms of a co-occurring mental health issue

The signs of mental health issues can vary greatly by individual and often depend on the severity of an individual’s co-occurring condition and the type of substance abused.

Signs & symptoms to look for:

  • Feeling a void from lack of social connection, work or family issues, general boredom
  • Sleeping too much, having trouble sleeping or switching sleep cycles from night to day
  • Racing thoughts, problems with concentration, memory or ability to think clearly
  • Changes in eating – loss of appetite or overeating
  • Irritability, restlessness or short temper
  • Sensitivity to sound, sight, smell or touch
  • Feeling overly worried, sad, empty, hopeless or worthless
  • Not being able to complete tasks at home, work or school
  • Isolating from others, disconnection and loss of interest in things that were once enjoyed
  • Evidence of abusing alcohol or drugs in an effort to self-medicate their symptoms

If you or a family member are showing signs of a mental illness and substance use disorder, Enterhealth can help. Our staff of addiction psychiatrists and therapists are specifically trained to treat and help heal dual-diagnosis patients.
