Mr. Kniffen co-founded Enterhealth with his son after witnessing the devastation of a family friend who lost loved ones to addiction.

He has more than 40 years of experience in business operations and management, as well as product development. Having started his career in sales, Mr. Kniffen understands how to grow companies organically. His leadership experience ranges from development to operations and financial management, for companies ranging in size from start-ups to multi-million dollar corporations.

After graduating from the University of North Texas and serving in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Kniffen began his civilian career in the early years of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) serving as a corporate recruiter. From there, he joined the University Computing Company, working his way up to vice president of Field Operations, then joined Kaneb, where he served as group vice president responsible for three of its subsidiaries and a software development team.

Having established a solid background in software applications, Mr. Kniffen then began a joint venture, Core Data Products, with Core Laboratories. Core Data was his first entrepreneurial venture. The company started with a single idea – develop a software application that consolidated and optimized coring data for the oil and gas industry. Burlington Northern later acquired the company, then Mr. Kniffen joined Tres Computing Systems, a subsidiary of Control Data, where he served as president. In 1984, he founded Utility Resources, Inc., a developer and distributor of application software.

Mr. Kniffen then acquired Point Communications in 1995, and began rebuilding the company – which he still owns today – from the ground up. Point Communications is now known as The Point Group, one of the leading marketing communications firms in the southwest, and one of the very few that remains independently owned.

Fundamentally believing that the right people can achieve anything when they are committed to doing the right things, David Kniffen Sr.’s specialty is recognizing good people and good ideas; this is what drew him to the Enterhealth concept.
