Family Involvement in Drug & Alcohol Addiction Treatment Therapy 

Relational & Family Therapy Support

Alcohol and drug addiction research suggests that appropriate family involvement and support is a critical component for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. As part of the addiction recovery process, Enterhealth offers individualized family therapy sessions as well as educational support for families in a group setting as part of our residential addiction treatment program at The Ranch. Here, clients and family members are taught to rebuild and establish healthy relationships by learning how to assertively communicate feelings and needs. This allows clients and families to develop a connection with others, creating a strong support system for their drug or alcohol addiction recovery and lifelong sobriety.

Behavioral Couples Therapy

Behavioral Couples Therapy (BCT) for alcohol and drug addiction is a substance abuse treatment approach based on the assumptions that (1) intimate partners can reward abstinence and (2) reducing relationship distress lessens risk for relapse. In BCT, the therapist works with both the person suffering from drug or alcohol addiction and his or her partner to build a relationship that supports abstinence and sobriety. Program components include a recovery or sobriety contract between the partners and therapist, activities and assignments designed to increase positive feelings, shared activities, constructive communication and relapse prevention planning.

Family Behavior Therapy

Family Behavior Therapy (FBT) is a behavioral treatment aimed at reducing drug and alcohol use in clients with common co-occurring problem behaviors such as depression, family discord, and work attendance. This drug and alcohol addiction treatment approach owes its theoretical underpinnings to the Community Reinforcement Approach and includes a validated method of improving enlistment and attendance. Participants attend therapy sessions with at least one significant other or a cohabitating partner.
